Frequently Asked Questions
What feedback does the instructor receive about student performance on the software?

VUMicro keeps track of student actions as they use the software and reports them to the instructor via an automatically-generated lab report. It monitors their aseptic technique logging all errors made, from failure to flame their loops or tubes to forgetting to turn the flame off overnight. It also keeps track of improper incubation, use of the wrong reagents, and can even detect when guessing occurs. If students perform tests repeatedly or that are unnecessary, or if they misinterpret test results, the lab report notes them. Because the lab report is generated in the name of the student and the student's account is only accessible via the student's password, there is good security in knowing the work was done by the individual named on the lab report.

As one user recently noted, "VUMicro sees every test done by every student and reports every mistake and shortcut taken. I would have to teach each student individually to have the same insight into their abilities!"

Each student's lab report can be printed out or accessed electronically for grading.
